In response to the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., as well as an ongoing effort to prevent bullying, the San Clemente Family of Parent, Teacher, Student Associations, or PTSAs, and San Clemente Police Services will hold a forum on bullying and violence.
The event will include a presentation from Jeff McKinney, FBI special agent on the law enforcement response to school violence, Mary Fortmeier, a certified trainer for the Olweus Bullying Prevention program. Rod Valdez, school resource officer, will also discuss the Gang Reduction and Intervention program.
The program will be held February 7 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the San Clemente Presbyterian Church Fireside Room. The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is being implemented this year at Clarence Lobo Elementary School.
