Monday, January 21

Suspicious Vehicle

La Placentia, 100 Block (4:21 a.m.)

A man called police to report a suspicious, charcoal grey vehicle at the corner of La Placentia and Revuleta. The caller said there was an unknown object on the sidewalk nearby. The vehicle was parked on the side of the street with no houses, near the Holiday Inn.

Drunk Driving

Avenida Pico/ 5 Freeway (5:54 a.m.)

A 29-year-old security guard was taken into custody for drunk driving after officers observed him stumble from his vehicle while going through a drive-through. He is being held on $10,000 bail while awaiting his January 22 court appearance.

Suspicious Person

Avenida Pico, 900 Block (9:29 a.m.)

A man was seen roaming around the store picking up items and placing them in a plastic bag that he came in with. When the caller approached him, he immediately began to curse at her. The man was described as being in his late 50s, wearing a dirty green jacket and jeans.

Sunday, January 20

Gunshots Heard

Calle Portofino, 0 Block (9:34 p.m.)

A woman reported hearing three loud gunshots go off near her residence. She also heard a man yell and whistle.  A second informant called in the same occurrence but reported seeing people walk out from a backyard on Calle Portofino carrying fireworks

Traffic Hazard

El Camino Real/Marquita (1:03 p.m.)

A caller reported a man standing in the middle of the street by Pedro’s Tacos yelling at on-coming traffic. The man was described as tall, wearing a brown T-shirt and jeans.

Suspicious Person

Avenida Pico/ Boca de la Playa (10:09 a.m.)

A man told police he believed there was a homeless man living on top of the Ole Hanson Beach Club. The man was seen walking across the street to the 7-11 from the club. All of his belongings were believed to still be atop the Beach Club.

Hit and Run Misdemeanor

Avenida Ramona, 100 Block (1:28 a.m.)

A man reported seeing a driver cause an accident and then flee the scene. The informant followed the hit and run driver to a new location and was waiting outside for police to arrive.

Saturday, January 19

Hit and Run Parked Car

Avenida Granada, 200 Block (9 p.m.)

A witness reported a hit and run that took place in a parking lot. The caller stated that a white, late-model GMC Sierra hit a parked, silver Chevy Silverado and that the driver appeared to be intoxicated. The driver briefly stepped out of his car and then left. A small child was seen inside the vehicle. The driver was last seen headed westbound on Granada.

Suspicious Person in Vehicle

El Camino Real, 2700 Block (4:45 p.m.)

A caller reported seeing two suspicious looking men in in a gold four-door Mercedes. The driver was described as being in his 30s with salt and pepper hair. The passenger had a black sweatshirt pulled over his head. Both subjects were seen smoking, what looked to the caller to be methamphetamine, from a glass pipe.

Disturbance

El Camino Real, 400 Block (4:15 p.m.)

An elderly woman with grey hair and a walker was reportedly screaming at passersby while standing outside of Subway.

Suspicious Person

Camino de los Mares, 600 Block (3:12 p.m.)

A woman wearing a turban, a hospital gown and multiple hospital bracelets was standing near Ralphs grocery store and exposing herself to people as they walked through the parking lot.

Avenida Vista Montana, 200 Block (3:02 p.m.)

A caller reported juveniles with guns across the street from Lobo Elementary School with guns. The informant said the subjects were hiding in a nearby ravine and one appeared to have a rifle while the other appeared to have a handgun. It is unknown if the weapons were air powered pellet guns or the real thing.
