On January 6, the Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club U14 junior tennis team took home the USTA Jr. U14 title, defeating neighboring rival Marbella, 43-39.
Rancho San Clemente was one of six teams selected to represent the south county division. Six teams were also selected from the north county division to make up the 12-team field.
The semifinals of the championship tournament were held on January 5, when Rancho San Clemente pulled off a comeback win over Tustin Hills despite slipping to an early 18-game deficit. The San Clemente team rallied from there and advanced to the finals, where they defeated Marbella.
The Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club U14 team includes: Jared Chang, Matthew Hooper, Sam Johnson, Erika Marangi, Parsa Nnemati, Sophie Shaw and Tovah Stevens. The team was coached by Glen Maloy.
