Clarence Lobo Elementary Piloting Anti-Bullying Program

Clarence Lobo Elementary School in San Clemente, began implementation of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) at their school this fall. The committee training was held October 4-5 with all teachers and staff fully trained in November. An overview presentation of the OBPP will be presented at the Community Forum for the Prevention of Bullying and Violence scheduled for February 7 in honor of San Clemente’s KindnesSCounts/Blue Ribbon Week.
This research-based school-wide “systems change” program has been used successfully in schools all over the country and around the world with positive results. This program is a long-term commitment consisting of school-wide, classroom, individual, parent and community components. As part of the program, students participate in weekly class meetings to learn about the effects of bullying, how to build a positive climate and peer relations. They also learn to respect differences and promote communication.
