The 1st Marine Division has released the name of the Camp Pendleton Marine killed in a training accident Tuesday.
Sergeant Caleb M. Medley, 26, of La Junta, Col., was killed February 26 in a parachute training accident in Perris. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation. Medley was an assistant radio operator with 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, a release from the Marine division stated.
Medley enlisted in the Marine Corps May 23, 2005.
His awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with “V”, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Combat Action Ribbon (second award), Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (second award), and the NATO ISAF Medal.
“The Marines and sailors of the 1st Marine Division are deeply saddened by the loss of Sgt. Medley. Our sincere condolences go out to his family,” the release stated.
