For the San Clemente Times
The San Clemente Historical Society will sponsor a debate with this year’s candidates for City Council election. All 12 candidates have agreed to attend this first debate of the local campaign season. Three seats are up for election this year.
See page 7 for a list of candidates running this year.
Several key issues face the city of San Clemente this year, including growth and historic preservation, the 241 toll road extension, lack of a hospital, homeless problems and nuclear waste storage at SONGS.
The event is free to the public. It will be held 3-5 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 16, at the Community Center. Historical Society president Larry Culbertson will moderate. The public may submit questions to be asked the candidates.
