The only way I can express my grieve over losing Ryan is that I truly lost my friend!!!! I have known Ryan for the past 5 years. We have had endless hours talking dirt bikes, snowboarding, sushi, bootcamp, partying!!!!!! I was not only his friend but I was the one who cut his hair. So with that being said, everyone knows what kind of friendships you build with the one who cuts your hair. Boy, Have I heard some stories and I always looked forward to our next conversations because I knew it was going to be about something I couldn't believe, but only Ryan, the one I knew to live life to the absolute fullest. He was definetly defining the term "Full Throttle!"
I cut Ryan's hair the day before he passed. He had been going with me to Fitness Bootcamp and our last conversation was all about how strong and healthy he felt and how excited he was to pick up his buddy from the airport and get to Starwest the next day and then off to A Day In The Dirt!!!! We talked all about his new bike. Riding was his true passion. As a matter of fact, the day I met him 5 years ago, he walked up to me after being out on the track all day with dirt completely covering his face and the only skin color you could see was his eyes where his goggles had been. There was never a visit or a phone call that we didn't talk about riding.
I will miss him for his humor and that everytime in the past 5 years that he sat down to get his haircut, he would say "Make me look hot Ray!"
To his family, may you find peace in your broken hearts through remembering all the great things about Ryan and celebrating his life the way you know he would want you to!!!!! And...
To Ryan~ Man am I ever going to miss you. I already do. I'll miss all of our talks about our passions for the dirt and snow. I'll miss everytime we would get on the phone with each other, the funny way you used to say "What's up Rachael." Now I don't have an informant to keep me up to date on the Motorcross World. Everytime I go to X-Games, I'll look for your face but I know you'll be there with me in my heart. I'll miss your name dropping and hearing about all the riders that you were hanging with that I thought were super hot and you would laugh at me. When we talked last monday, you talked about your upcoming trip to Utah to snowboard and I joked that you were gonna be better than me at snowboarding with hanging out at the mtn for so long, well my friend, I can only picture in my mind that you are shredding the highest peeks of perfect powdered mountains and riding the track of your dreams. I'll miss you terrribly my friend Braaaaaaaaaaaappp!!!!

Kevin, Ryan idolized you, you were his hero, he always looked up to you, and would have forgiven you the worst misdeeds if they were done by you, I wouldn't worry that you disappoint him.....you never could. Ryan will always be looking out for you......he had so much love for you....and he trusted you above anyone else.

Much love to you and your family, I am keeping you in my prayers and hope that the wounds that are a part of your family will heal thru this loss.....I guess Ryan ended up being all of our teacher truely - who knew he would be the one.....and that it can all change in just a minute.

I will always have fond memories of your brother, and I really loved him.

Peace.

I will miss you Rayan. You were supposed to come to my funeral.
My prayers are with you and the family.

There is one thing I know for certain, I'll meet you on God's golden shore.

The ol dude

I want to thank everyone for the outpour of support for our family. Ryan was truely at the top of his game, living his life to the fullest, right up to the moment of his passing. I know he is with God and at peace. If you were lucky enough to know my brother I know that you are saddened, but rest assured that Ryan is in a happier place and resting peacefully with his beloved grandparents.

To Ryan: I am doing my best to honor your life as you would have wanted. I hope that you are pleased with my efforts. A day will not go by that I won't think of you...I will love you forever.

love, Your Brother

Ryan Tanner and I have known each other for about 10 years. we met on a c.w. Poss job in Irvine . A operating engineer and a member of Local 12 .He was a stand up guy and a really good friend that would do anything for u .I was completely shocked to hear the news when his brother called me yesterday .He will be deeply missed and kept in my prayers from here on out .

Ryan went to my boot camp in San Juan Capo every day! He lost 15 lbs & he loved it! He was excited about how strong he was getting and his growing endurance. He spoke of his passion for riding and how excited he was to go and ride the day of his death. He told me he would see me after the holiday weekend and that was that. Who would of thought that whatI heard happen would turn out to be true? We saw each other for only an hour 6 days a week & yet he managed to make an impact on me & my boot camp.I keep looking in the same corner where he worked out & waiting for him to ask me if I turned the heater on for him yet. (it's freezing in my gym) I am deeply saddened to hear of this horrible accident & want to send his family my prayers and condolences. He will be missed.
Sincerely,

Shay Whited

I was saddened when I ascertained that Ryan had passed. Although I did not know him very well, I knew him as a warm-hearted and kind individual, whom I met through my brother Dino. My heart goes out to his family and I extend my deepest sympathies.

RYAN was one of my best friends, for the last 12 years there hasn't been a week that has gone by that we have not spoke to each other on the phone. We talked about his brand new CR450R's that he bought last week. He was so excited to show me them and was ready to go ride them.He told me that he would see me soon and to take care of my newborn baby. Ryan OR AKA- Ol'DIRTY TANNER as I always called him, was more than a buddy of mine. We shared a house together in Arizona and rode hundreds of hours together in the desert and the track, and I have too many good stories to tell about him. This guy would give you the shirt of his back. He recently had been hangin with some pretty popular guys in the Motocross industry, and would always call me with stories of past champions and guys we used to look up to when we rode out in AZ together, and tell me that he was at the races drinking beers with them. He got really close with Mad Mike Jones in the past couple of years and they shared some real good times together from what he told me. He always found himself in cool situations and I loved to here his stories every week. He was a heavy equipment operator for the union and loved to work with dirt.We both started that trade in AZ around 2000. There will not be a week that goes by that I will think about him, and want everyone to know that he knew thousands of people in this world but had a handful of TRUE friends and I was blessed to be one of them. I pray that you were saved Tanner and hope the Lord has taken you to heaven with your Grandparents who you loved so much. I am still not over the reality that you are gone but I will always remember you for the good times we shared. I love you Tanner... NASTY NATE nsantistevan@cox.net

I was sad to read this. I was hoping it wasn't you! I think I called at the wrong time. Sorry Tanner family for your loss.
As for the @$$hole who took his TV, you are truly sick in the head! You have reached an all time low.

Why on EARTH would someone do that. That is the most messed up thing a person could do. I agree with Kim, I hope he does haunt you!!!! you freak!

Lamy, it is not the governments job to make the sport safer. Individuals that participate in the sport must recognize the dangrs associated with riding motorcycles.

Posted by Lamy November 27, 2009, 11:03 am

Very sad to hear this. MX officials and law makers must do better to make this great sport safer. Bikes are getting faster and heavier, Jumps getting higher and more doubles, It's just getting to stunt more than sport. Pray the lord to ease his family's pain.
