The Orange County Transportation Authority is asking volunteers who represent individuals with disabilities and senior citizens in the county to serve on its Special Needs Advisory Committee.

Committee members are responsible for advising the OCTA board of directors about transit and paratransit issues. The committee will recommend how to solicit feedback from disabled and senior transit users and communicate with care providers and special needs service agencies regarding transit-related information.

Anyone interested must be 18 years old, live or represent constituencies in Orange County and be willing to participate for a three-year term on the committee.

Two bus routes that circulate through San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano and Mission Viejo—the 191 and the 193 will be discontinued in October.

At past City Council meetings, members of the public have voiced concern for people with disabilities and how cutting the routes will affect them. Applications for the advisory committee are being accepted through May 9 and are available at www.octa.net/snac. For additional information, contact Jessica Lopez at 714.560.5766 or jlopez@octa.net.

Editor’s note: In the print edition of the April 28-May 4 edition of the San Clemente Times, the month the 191 and 193 bus routes will be discontinued was incorrectly stated. They are planned to be discontinued in October.
