A high-end fashion company, Novella Royale, has been approved to rent the building that was leased to the San Clemente Chamber of Commerce for more than 40 years. The business was approved for a commercial lease of 1100 N. El Camino Real for five years at a base rate of $2,500, according to the lease agreement.

City Council approved the rental agreement at its June 16 meeting.

In 2014, city council voted not to reapprove the chamber’s lease rate of $100 per year. The land on which the building sits was constructed with chamber coffers but has always been owned by the city. According to the original lease agreement, all structures on the built land reverted to the city when the chamber could not adhere to the terms of the agreement.
