Early bird registration for this year’s 38th annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot will end at 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 30. Starting Oct. 1 registration fees will go up $5.
The Dana Point Turkey Trot is organized by the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Run Racing, Inc., the city, Dana Point Harbor, California State Parks, the County of Orange and Dana Marina Plaza.
The event features a two-day health and wellness expo, a 5K Masters, 5K Open, 10K and Kids’ Gobble Wobble.
Other festivities include a DJ, on-course entertainment, a costume contest and photos with the Turkey Trot mascot Drumstick.
The Turkey Trot is the ninth largest Thanksgiving Day run in the country and is USA Track & Field (USATF) sanctioned and certified. The Trot draws world-class elite runners, amateurs and children.
Since its inception, the Dana Point Turkey Trot has raised over $500,000 for local charities. The 2015 Dana Point Turkey Trot will benefit Family Assistance Ministries.
