The San Diego Sector of the U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a 35-year-old man who had bundles of methamphetamine stashed inside the trunk of his car on Friday, Dec. 11.
About 9 a.m., agents initiated a vehicle stop on a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt near the Border Patrol checkpoint on Interstate 5. As agents questioned the driver, their K-9 alerted officers to the rear of the car. A search of the trunk revealed two large black bags filled with 28 bundles of methamphetamine.
The bundles of meth weighed 37.04 pounds and have an estimated street value of $370,400.
Agents turned the man and drugs over to the Drug Enforcement Administration. The vehicle was seized by the U.S. Border Patrol.
Last fiscal year, Border Patrol agents at the San Diego Sector intercepted 1,797 pounds of methamphetamine.
