The California State Lands Commission will host a scoping meeting and open public comment opportunities during a meeting about the preparation of a draft environmental report on decommissioning of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station at noon on July 27 at the San Clemente High School theater, 700 Avenida Pico.
The environmental impact report process is required by the California Environmental Quality Act.
An open house will take place at noon and the meeting will start at 1 p.m. The meeting will examine the offshore aspects of the decommissioning process of SONGS, as it is on state sovereign land.
As part of the process, comments from the public may be submitted or postmarked in writing to Cynthia Herzog, senior environmental scientist for CSLC, at 100 Howe Avenue, Suite 100-South, Sacramento, CA 95825 or ceqacomments@slc.ca.gov by Aug. 15.
Another meeting is scheduled at 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Oceanside City Hall, 300 North Coast Highway.
