Full nighttime closures of Interstate 5 at Ortega Highway on Friday and Saturday have been cancelled, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Caltrans will notify motorists once closures have been rescheduled.

Regularly scheduled nighttime closures, from Sunday, December 15 through Saturday, December 21, are still in effect and are as follows:

  • Both the northbound and southbound Interstate 5 off-ramps at Ortega Highway will be closed nightly, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Sunday, December 15 through Thursday, December 19.
  • Both the northbound and southbound I-5 on-ramps at Ortega Highway will be closed nightly, between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Monday, December 16 through Thursday, December 19.
  • Northbound and southbound I-5, between Camino Capistrano and Junipero Serra Road, will be closed nightly, between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Sunday, December 15 through Thursday, December 19.
  • Eastbound and westbound Ortega Highway, between Rancho Viejo Road and Del Obispo Street, will be closed nightly, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., from Sunday, December 15 through Thursday, December 19.

The closures are part of Caltrans’ $86.2 million I-5/Ortega Highway interchange project.
