The members of Christ Lutheran Church recently welcomed a new pastor to their church family. Pastor Brenda Bos is leading services at two locations, including the at 8 a.m. “Beach Church” service on San Clemente’s North Beach near the Metrolink train station. A more formal worship service is held at 10:30 a.m. at the church’s main campus on Camino Capistrano in San Clemente.
Bos received her Master of Divinity from Claremont School of Theology and her Certificate of Advanced Theological Studies from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley. Before coming to San Clemente, she served congregations in Santa Monica, Canoga Park and Santa Clarita. Before entering the ministry, Bos worked in television production for 18 years, most notably on “The George Lopez Show,” “Suddenly Susan,” “Mad About You,” and “The Golden Girls”
Bos said her favorite part of working on productions was bringing together a large group of people to achieve a common goal.
“I loved being in the middle of talented, committed people and working in a congregation brings me the same delight in supporting people while getting to remind them weekly of God’s love and grace,” she said.
The church is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Judy Franz, president of their Church Council, commented that the strength of their church and the members’ focus is to support their immediate church family needs along with serving the needs of the surrounding community.
Those efforts include supporting military families through the church’s own efforts and those of
San Clemente Military Family Outreach. Members of Christ Lutheran Church recently helped with a baby shower for 27 military mothers-to-be whose husbands were away from home serving our country. Christ Lutheran Church family also helps Family Assistance Ministries in providing support for those in urgent need within the San Clemente community. FAM offers temporary shelter, job counseling and even living expenses to those in need. FAM is a valued partner in the churches ministry to those in need. Most recently, members of the church were among more than 200 people who volunteered to help count the number of homeless living in south Orange County. The congregation will also be joining FAM in their monthly food giveaway on Saturday, March 14.
