South Orange County California Genealogical Society
“Two Steps Forward, One Step Back: Is this Genealogy, or the Cha-Cha?”
Are you at a standstill with your genealogy research? Revisiting and reevaluating our early research and home sources of information might seem like a waste of time, but often, it’s the key to getting past a roadblock in our family history. Join us as Sara Cochran discusses techniques for finding new clues in records we already have, and looks at several small case studies to see the value of taking the time to go backward in order to go forward.
About the speaker: Sara Cochran holds a degree in Library Science/Liberal Arts and a Certificate of Genealogical Research from Boston University, and is a graduate of the Professional Genealogy Study Group certificate program. After nearly 25 years researching her own family tree, which has roots in Britain, Ireland, Italy, and Austria, as well as most of the United States, she began helping others learn about their own family history and preserve their photographic legacy. The presentation will begin after a short business meeting at 10 a.m. and concludes at noon.
Visitors are invited to this free program on Saturday, January 18th, which includes refreshments. The society meets at 27976 Marguerite Parkway at Hillcrest Drive. Park and enter behind the church. For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org
