Senior kicker Blake Gonzalez was offered a preferred walk-on by Boise State University head coach Chris Peterson while on an unofficial visit this past weekend, San Clemente head coach Jaime Ortiz confirmed via email.
Ortiz said that Gonzalez committed to the Division 1 school and will attend next fall in hopes of competing for the starting position and possibly a scholarship.
Gonzalez, who also played receiver for the Tritons, was 5 for 6 on field goal attempts in 2013, including a season-long 45-yard make against Trabuco Hills on November 8.
Gonzalez is the second San Clemente kicker in as many years to commit to a Division 1 football school. They other was Bret Miller, who committed to Arizona last season and currently attends the university.
Gonzalez will be joining San Clemente alum Terrell Johnson, who is currently a wide receiver for the Broncos.
