Late injury replacement by Nathan Yeomans brings number of San Clemente competitors to four

Hurley Pro contest director Pat O’Connell announced one more San Clemente-based surfer will be joining the lineup, bringing the number of competitors from the city to four.
Nathan Yeomans was awarded a wildcard entry Wednesday after a spot was vacated due to injury.
He will join Pat Gudauskas and Ian Crane, who were chosen earlier to fill slots also opened up due to injuries.
Kolohe Andino was the only San Clemente-based surfer originally seeded into the contest.
The waiting period for the Hurley Pro, at San Onofre State Beach, Lower Trestles, begins September 15 and runs through September 21.
It looks like the action should get underway on day 1 as the official Surfline Hurley Pro forecast is calling for “a series of small, contestable, southerly swells” to remain throughout the waiting period, with the largest waves expected to hit on the September 15, 17 and 18.
The roster below, listed by World Title Rank, was updated September 10 and is still subject to change.
The list includes custom hashtags for each athlete so fans can pick a favorite and join their “team” on Instagram and Twitter to cheer them on throughout the event.
