A guide to Mother’s Day teas, brunches and happenings around town
Everybody celebrates Mother’s Day differently: serving breakfast in bed, eating brunch at a favorite restaurant or relaxing with the family. No matter how it is observed, Mom has worked hard to deserve it. This year, get Mother’s Day started right with the following suggestions for just you and Mom-or for the whole family.

A special Mother’s Day Tea Service is available Sunday. There are three tea times to choose from: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.- 4:30 p.m. This traditional tea service includes finger sandwiches, dessert and a special two-ounce original blended tea for Mom. The price is $25 per person, and reservations are required. No wheelchair access.

This Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea is being offered both Saturday and Sunday, and there’s a choice between 11:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. seatings. The Afternoon Tea features a harpist, a selection of teas, tea sandwiches and desserts. The cost is $35 per person, and reservations are required.

BeachFire will serve its traditional Sunday brunch menu and will also present a flower to each mom. Brunch starts at 10:30 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m., serving family favorites including scrambled eggs and bacon. Prices for a full plate brunch begin at $6.95. Reservations are only accepted for parties of eight or larger.

The Rancho San Clemente Tennis and Fitness Club hosts a Mother’s Day buffet-style brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The buffet includes a carving station, waffle station, champagne and mimosas. The cost is $24.95 for adults and $10.95 for kids 12 and under. Call for reservations.

Start Mom’s day with a champagne brunch and enjoy the panoramic views of the Talega Golf Course. Long-stemmed roses will be given to every mom. The champagne brunch is a buffet; and prices are $37 for adults and $18 for children. Brunch is available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are required.

Stop by Casa Romantica from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Imagination Celebration, which is a countywide arts festival put on by Arts Orange County and the Orange County Department of Education. Student artists from the San Clemente High School Visual Artist Showcase will perform art demonstrations and make crafts with school-age visitors, including Mother’s Day cards. Tea and cookies will be served, and admission is free.
