SUPPORT THIS INDEPENDENT JOURNALISM
The article you’re about to read is from our reporters doing their important work — investigating, researching, and writing their stories. We want to provide informative and inspirational stories that connect you to the people, issues and opportunities within our community. Journalism requires lots of resources. Today, our business model has been interrupted by the pandemic; the vast majority of our advertisers’ businesses have been impacted. That’s why the SC Times is now turning to you for financial support. Learn more about our new Insider’s program here. Thank you.

The San Clemente Junior Lifeguard Program is an ocean and beach safety program for young people ages 9-17. Participants receive education and experience in ocean safety, first aid, rescue techniques, body surfing, board surfing, body boarding, physical fitness, and marine safety operations, according to the city of San Clemente website.
All new students must pass a swim test to be eligible to register for the Junior Lifeguard Program. The swim test is conducted at the San Clemente Aquatics Center. A passing swim test is completing four laps (100 yards) under 2 minutes.
The first of the Junior Lifeguard swim tests begins Saturday, March 23. Visit san-clemente.org for more information.
