JAKE RYBCZYK, San Clemente

My understanding of our community expanded immensely over the course of my 2018 campaign for San Clemente City Council. It’s clear our community believes in the values of freedom and safety and will come together in the face of reckless groups that stand to see San Clemente fail.

I trust that after this upcoming special election, San Clemente families will have a true champion and the best voice on city council through Jackson Hinkle. It’s time SC had the unbought, local- and people-powered city hall that we deserve. Jackson brings all of that, with the experience, leadership and energy to get things done.

Hinkle is unbought by developers and reckless out-of-town interests. His campaign is 100% volunteer-led, and he is taking no corporate or developer money. When this campaign wins, it will be an example of what we can accomplish when everyday people come together.

Jackson brings valuable experience to council. He was a lead organizer of the Not My Toll Road protest in 2017, he was a founding member of a coalition leading the fight for lower local energy rates, and he has briefed Congress on the storage of nuclear waste at San Onofre.

It is his local experience as an organizer that makes me believe in him to stop the Transportation Corridor Agencies’ disastrous toll road plans, ensure the safe removal of nuclear waste from San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station and restore public safety by addressing the homelessness crisis.

Not to mention, Jackson is the only candidate in this election who was born and raised in San Clemente. He has watched our open spaces turn into a mall, witnessed our only hospital turn into an empty building and has seen an increasing number of mom-and-pop shops being replaced by faceless chains.

He is a local public advocate who has attended our schools, surfed our beaches and now is stepping up in our community to challenge the forces that seek to destroy our Spanish Village by the Sea.

Check your mail for your ballot and vote Jackson Hinkle for San Clemente City Council by Nov. 5.

  • Hinkle’s political views are extreme and should be rejected by voters. He has accepted the endorsement of socialists. This cannot be acceptable to the voters in San Clemente. https://www.facebook.com/1844271855821551/posts/2233079843607415?sfns=mo

    • You’re entitled to your opinion…as long as you acknowledge that Gene James didn’t pay taxes for 8 years, has history of using live=in girlfriends’ and wives’ money to pay off debts, was sued successfully by a former employer, and menaced and threatened a drag queen performer at a Tupperware party. Then there’s the recent news about him and his minions getting physical and threatening another Republican candidate at the OCGOP committee endorsement meeting. Plenty of witnesses willing to confirm that it happened.

      • I can’t acknowledge any of those things, but I’d be happy to confirm that I don’t support Gene James. He isn’t want he is pretending to be. I feel for the residents of San Clemente because there are no good choices here.

  • Still undecided at this point, however this OPED sounds deceiving. How much experience does a 20 year old have? You can be extremely smart but how much wisdom does a 20 year have? No money from large developers or special interests…How much from Firefighters Union ($7000.00?)

    Just asking?

  • SOCIALISTS? what a pathetic gaslighting comment. Hinkle is fiscally conservative and the only candidate running who can be trusted to stop the tollroad and work on solving the problem of the leaking nuclear waste dump on the south end of town! This is not a close call—- This young man is EXACTLY the fresh blood or tired city politics needs!

    • This isn’t gaslighting, it’s an assertion of fact. You can find it yourself with a simple search of Facebook.

    • Bort Clevland….dude your making a fool of yourself. You have no idea what your talking about with either Hinkle or James….you are what they call a low informed voter. Spreading rumors and false allegation without taking the five mins it take to looked up the info. You are why we are paying 4.50 a gallon for gas, you are why in CA you are allowed to steal up to $950 and no be arrested, you are why arson isn’t a felony anymore, you are why the homeless are allow to s&^% in the street and camp wherever they would like.

You are too stupid to vote.

  • Addendum!

I was disgusted today to get an anti Hinkle robo call from the OCSIO Deputies Association urging a vote against this fine young man!

This Deputies Association has been a force for good for the Deputies and I have supported them. In fact, this Association is THE main reason Deputies earned a HUGE boost in their pensions. The average “2 stripe” deputy after a 30 year career will receive just over 1 million dollars after about 9 years of retirement! THINK OF THAT! Hundreds of deputies are similarly enjoying this benefit for life!!

Now I support the deputies retirement packages but it sickens me to see them stick their nose in our politics after we pay then so well.

Hinkle is a fine young man, he ‘is a product
of our local schools, he has a solid reputation in this town and he’s a fiscally conservative force for good. UNLIKE the gaslit deputy who made that robo call and literally draws a million dollar pensions!!!!!

Socialism indeed—- disgusting hypocracy never looks good on anyone.

    • Look it up. Easily verifiable information that anyone doing research on candidates should already know. This isn’t new news. I even provided the link.

      • Nick—. Yes, I see what you’re saying.
I’m not on FB, I quit in 2016 after watching the flood of false broken English Russian bot ads overwhelmed rational thought and assisted the Trump campaign.

        You are confusing “Democratic Socialist”
With actually “socialist”, you’re not alone, many confuse these things which is why it’s such a bad moniker! He’s for democracy and about as socialist as someone who gets social security or Medicare.
I’ve heard his stump speech twice. He is a fiscal conservative re city ops. I’m pretty sure he’s not advocating the worker control over the means of production, but I understand your misgivings about the term— it’s unfortunate.

This guy is a solid capitalist who will be responsible with city funds.

        • Wow there’s so many things wrong with this his response that I’m not sure where to begin! I can assure you that I know full well what a socialist is. I have a degree in philosophy and I studied socialism in all of its nefarious iterations in great detail. You can put all the colorful terms that you want before and after the term, but it all ends the same way. There is nothing at all fiscally responsible about socialism. I encourage you to spend some time doing some detailed research in to socialism, as well as into the “Russian bot” phenomenon before you vote on anything ever again.

  • OMG this was one of the funniest letters ever…First we are being told how wonderful Hinkle will be for SC from another 20 year old who has never paid taxes, paid rent, paid healthcare, had a full time job or do any one of the one of a 1000 things adults do daily. .

Hinkle is unbought by developers and reckless out-of-town interests. ( Umm his campaign is backed and paid for by a Nevada developer )

His campaign is 100% volunteer-led, and he is taking no corporate or developer money. ( Except the Media manger and the Nevada Developer ).

Jackson brings valuable experience to council. He was a lead organizer of the Not My Toll Road protest in 2017, ( Umm Eva OKeefe was the organizer for two years then asked Jackson if he could get a group of students to come to a meeting. In the years that followed he has attended 1 TCA meeting, so 2 meeting in 5 years. And taking credit for someone else work…classy Jackson )

Jackson was a founding member of a coalition leading the fight for lower local energy rates ( Umm his High School Eviro Class sent a letter )

Jackson has briefed Congress on the storage of nuclear waste at San Onofre ( His High School Enviro class went and they sat in a overflow area and he didn’t even see congress )

Jackson local experience as an organizer that makes me believe in him to stop the Transportation Corridor Agencies’ disastrous toll road plans, ( This about the boy who has been to busy to attend more than 2 meeting in the last 5 years )

Ensure the safe removal of nuclear waste from San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station ( Umm the FEDERAL Govt has nowhere to put the waste and they are working on options and our Local congressman Levin has told Hinkle the FEDERAL govt is working on it your not )

Jackson wants to restore public safety by addressing the homelessness crisis ( Hinkle idea of addressing the homeless crisis is to take money from the homeless groups who are suing SC and Hinkle wants a PSH house in every residental neighborhood and to turn SC in the Regional Shelter for South OC).

Jackson is the only candidate in this election who was born and raised in San Clemente ( this is because he is only 20 and 3 of the other 5 candidates have lived in SC longer than HInkle has been alive )

Jackson is so delusional and entitled he honestly thinks going to a meeting is the same as spending years working on a solution, he delusions of grandeur is typical for a immature teenager but do we really want a entitled immature 20 year old running SC?

  • Now we hear that G James has fliers mailed to thousands that claim military decorations he never really obtained and now of course we see his response is to not accept responsibility for this but to blame it on others, I don’t need to know anymore about Mr. James.

He either committed an act of great dishonesty, or he’s so fast and loose with his operation that he misses big things. Either alternative makes him unfit to sit on our city Council.
