Bob Berends, San Clemente
With the rise of online shopping, there is likely a rise in the thefts of packages delivered by online retailers.
I live on Avenida Barcelona, generally a very safe southwest San Clemente neighborhood that hosts thousands of guests every Halloween. Though we have a Neighborhood Watch program, our residents remain victims of thefts of packages delivered to our front porches. On Friday morning, I learned that a package delivered to my house on Nov. 30 was stolen from my front porch. Last Friday, I found three packages delivered to my house and a neighbor’s that had been taken, opened and stolen from. Last month, I found two other packages delivered by Amazon to a neighbor, but their contents were stolen.
Christmas is the season for giving and receiving, but shouldn’t be the season for stealing. I urge my neighbors to be vigilant.
There is really an easy way to prevent package theft, its a new type of mailbox check out http://www.hellojeffrie.com
