VICKI MARKS, San Clemente
It’s not “magical,” but it is a recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a protection against the spread of COVID-19.
To me, it’s a mystery as to why someone would refuse to do something as simple as wear a mask, keeping in mind that it’s more for the protection of others.
Masks are meant to protect those you come in contact with in the event that you are infected and don’t have symptoms.
So, it’s a selfless gesture, but that pretty much sums up why some refuse to wear masks. Yes, we as Americans feel we are guaranteed the right of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, but without life, the other two are meaningless.
