Skateboarders of all ages will carve, flip and grind their way to a spot on the podium at the 17th annual San Clemente Friends of Beaches, Parks and Recreation skateboard tournament at Steed Park on Sept. 10.
The annual contest, which begins at 8 a.m., will feature open divisions for boys and girls ages five to 17. This year, the newly-formed San Clemente Skateboard Coalition has teamed up with the Friends Foundation to help organize the event, and over 130 skaters are expected to compete.
In addition to the age-group divisions, the event will also feature the popular “best trick” contest.
Skateboard vendors will be on-site all day and will be doling out giveaways and prizes. The event will also feature several local food vendors.
There will be on-site registration for interested skaters. Cost to participate is $40. Online registration is also available. For more information, visit www.sanclemente.org/recreation.
