STEVE WATSON, San Clemente
Is anyone else concerned about the condition of the sidewalks and benches in the business districts of Del Mar and also El Camino Real?
There are many restaurants and boutiques there. I like to eat and shop local, but the condition of the sidewalks/benches is not inviting, and I am embarrassed to take my out-of-town guests to the restaurants and stores there.
This condition has gone on for quite a while, and it doesn’t appear that it has yet been addressed. A lot of money was spent by the city putting in beautiful brick sidewalks and murals, with testimonial benches donated by the families of former residents. But sadly, they have not been maintained, and it shows. How about making San Clemente’s downtown beautiful again?
Power washers or the vacuums used to clean the aisles at Costco might be a cost-effective solution.
