The Orange County Registrar of Voters has announced the statewide launch of online voter registration. The program will allow citizens to register to vote without filling out and mailing traditional paper voter registration forms, the announcement said.
The new system will verify voter data via the Department of Motor Vehicles’ database by matching each applicant’s driver’s license or state-issued identification card number, birth date and the last four digits of their Social Security number.
If everything checks out, the system will use the DMV’s electronic image of the applicant’s signature to complete the voter registration.
The deadline to register for the November 6 election is October 22.
