Longtime San Clemente High School girls volleyball head coach Rob O’Rear stepped down from the position today, according to a press release.
The release said that O’Rear had made the decision before the start of the 2013 season, but decided to keep the announcement quiet until the 2013-2014 season ended.
During O’Rear’s 21 years at the helm the Tritons captured 11 league titles, made 17 CIF-SS Championship appearances, reached the CIF-SS finals twice and captured the CIF-SS Championship once.
“Rob had a tremendous run … His teams have consistently been ranked among the top programs in the county year after year,” San Clemente High School athletic director John Hamro said in the release. “As an on-campus teacher, Rob fully understood how to encourage his athletes to be high achieving students first, and that success on the court would follow.”
O’Rear will continue to teach Foreign Language at the school.
