Update 3:36 p.m. : Orange County Transportation Authority reported about 3:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9 the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to Avenida Pico is back open.
Original Story
OCTA officials sent out an alert early Monday morning stating the I-5 southbound off-ramp closure at Avenida Pico is going to last longer than expected.
“…(T)he subcontractor handling the paving ran into resource issues, and the asphalt paving is taking longer than anticipated,” the press release stated. “We expect the newly reconfigured ramp to reopen by late Monday or early Tuesday.”
The southbound off-ramp was closed as of late Friday night at Avenida Pico “to allow crews to shift traffic to the new off-ramp being constructed adjacent to the existing ramp,” the release continued. “The closure allowed crews to complete major drainage work as well as asphalt paving and striping.”
The following detour has been recommended: From southbound I-5, exit Avenida Palizada, turn left, enter northbound I-5 on-ramp at Avenida Palizada, exit Avenida Pico.
Updates from OCTA will be posted on Facebook and OCI5SouthCounty and Twitter @southOC5info .
