SC Sheriff’s Blotter: Habitual TP Bandit Reported at-Large (or) Enter the Kung Fu ‘Transient’

Monday, July 4

FIREWORKS VIOLATIONS

Throughout San Clemente

There were dozens of firework violation calls throughout the day on July 4, according to the blotter.

DISTURBANCE

Avenida Pico, 700 Block (1:20 p.m.)

An employee locked the caller inside the high school field while he was with his service dog.

DISTURBANCE

Avenida De La Estrella, 100 Block (3:01 a.m.)

About 20 people were in a physical altercation during a party on the third floor of the building.

DRUNK DRIVING

Avenida Estacion, 1700 Block (2:57 a.m.)

The caller said they were just hit by a drunk driver. A 37-year-old man, whose occupation was listed as customer service, was arrested in the incident and has since posted bail.

DISTURBANCE

El Camino Real, 700 Block (2:34 a.m.)

A caller said four people were in a physical altercation inside the restaurant.

DRUNK IN CAR

Avenida Pico, 100 Block (12:57 a.m.)

The caller said the DJ for an event was drunk and wanted to drive away.

Sunday, July 3

ILLEGALLY PARKED VEHICLE

Trafalgar Lane, 100 Block (1:01 p.m.)

The caller reported an ongoing problem with the driver “leaving the truck in the street.”

DRUNK IN PUBLIC

Avenida Pico, 900 Block (12:11 p.m.)

A young man was seen throwing up and drinking in front of the restaurant.

DISTURBANCE

El Camino Real/Escalones (8:03 a.m.)

A man was laying in the driveway at the entrance to the location. A 25-year-old man, whose occupation was listed as “manager,” was arrested in the incident and has since been released.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Avenida Vista Hermosa, 900 Block (7:27 a.m.)

A man in a white pickup truck appeared to be under the influence, and the caller said he was “passing out.”

PETTY THEFT

Camino De Los Mares, 600 Block (1:57 a.m.)

There was no loss reported in the incident. A “good Samaritan” paid for the food.

CITIZEN ASSIST

El Camino Real, 900 Block (1:51 a.m.)

The caller said they could hear people on the roof.

Via Merluza, 600 Block (1:22 a.m.)

The caller said he thought people were planting drugs in his backpack.

Saturday, July 2

FIREWORK VIOLATION

Mariposa/Escalones (11:08 p.m.)

The caller said the fireworks sounded as though there were “guns a-blazing” near the beach trail.

DISTURBANCE

La Rambla/Boca Del Canon (10:57 p.m.)

People on the bluffs were throwing rocks down to Boca Del Canon and possibly hit cars.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Brillante/Legendario (8:19 p.m.)

A man and a woman not known to the area were carrying four or five duffel bags.

CITIZEN ASSIST

Avenida Presidio, 100 Block (6:58 p.m.)

A caller said there is someone who has been “constantly toilet-papering” the house and other houses in the neighborhood.

RECKLESS DRIVING

El Camino Real/I-5 Freeway (3:27 p.m.)

A woman in a “new” black Honda Civic with paper license plates was seen swerving in and out of lanes while she was texting while driving, a caller said.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

El Camino Real/Avenida Rosa (2:38 p.m.)

Police were called to a man in a motorhome who was yelling profanities as people passed by.

TRAFFIC HAZARD

Camino De Los Mares, 300 Block (2:12 p.m.)

A caller said there was a “very sewer smell” coming out of a manhole, and there was also a substance that was bubbling.

ASSIST OUTSIDE AGENCY

I-5 Freeway, Avenida Pico (1:32 p.m.)

On the southbound ramp, a man was seen carrying a backpack and throwing cones around. The caller said he was possibly under the influence.

PETTY THEFT REPORT

Avenida De La Estrella/Camino De Los Mares (11:42 a.m.)

A woman said her son’s wallet was stolen, and the suspect was driving a white pickup truck.

DISTURBANCE

Avenida San Pablo, 700 Block (11:26 a.m.)

A caller was in a verbal argument with “surfers” who were climbing over his fence.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Avenida Pico, 900 Block (10:05 a.m.)

Police were called to reports of a man inside a white van who was “playing with wires” inside the vehicle.

Friday, July 1  

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Mariposa, 100 Block (10:26 p.m.)

The caller said they could hear noises in the ceiling.

PROWLER

Camino De Estrella, 300 Block (10 p.m.)

A suspect was seen looking into windows.

DISTURBANCE

Avenida San Fernando, 100 Block (7:28 p.m.)

A person was reportedly seen with a machete.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT-UNKNOWN INJURIES

El Camino Real, 2300 Block (5:12 p.m.)

A truck was driven into an apartment complex.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Avenida Estacion, 1700 Block (4:20 p.m.)

A man described as transient came out of the restroom doing karate.

SUSPICIOUS VEHICLE

Camino De Los Mares, 600 Block (1:19 p.m.)

Two men, whom the caller described as possible “tweakers,” were in a white Saturn parked outside the business and were scaring customers.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

El Camino Real, 800 Block (1:15 p.m.)

A woman described as “transient” was giving herself a bath with wet wipes in front of the store and would not leave when asked.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

El Camino Real, 100 Block (11:29 a.m.)

A customer tried to use a credit or debit card that was reported stolen and on a list of cards with fake names. The customer was described as a woman in her late 30s wearing white pants and a pink shirt. She was carrying a backpack.

DISTURBANCE

Camino De Los Mares, 600 Block (8:17 a.m.)

The manager said a woman locked herself inside a bathroom and was refusing to leave. During the incident, a 52-year-old man was arrested and is currently being held at the Central Men’s Jail on $15,000 bail.

DISTURBANCE

Avenida Serra, 100 Block (1:25 a.m.)

The caller said their roommate stole $700 out of their wallet.

Thursday, June 30

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Avenida Pico/Camino Vera Cruz (4:59 p.m.)

A caller said a “transient” was rolling down the hill.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Avenida Victoria, 600 Block (5:07 p.m.)

A caller said someone had a knife on them.

SUSPICIOUS PERSON IN VEHICLE

El Camino Real, 2400 Block (3:23 p.m.)

Police were called to people who were living in a motorhome in the alley. The caller was a business owner who was upset they have continued to stay there after being told to leave. The caller said they think the home is also occupied by “numerous dogs.”

SUSPICIOUS PERSON/CIRCUMSTANCES

Escalones, 200 Block (7:48 a.m.)

A 35-year-old man, described as being medium build, with dark hair and a goatee was suspected to be casing residences, the caller said. The caller watched him looking down the side of houses and cars.
