On Dec. 2 and 3, volunteers with the nonprofit Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise stuffed stockings and filled care packages for the U.S. Armed Forces deployed overseas as part of an annual outreach support event. This was the 11th edition of the event.
This year, more than 2,000 stockings were shipped to Afghanistan, Iraq, Kuwait and Okinawa, Japan.
Words of Comfort, Hope and Promise is a non-profit organization that partners with the public to provide a wide range of military outreach support and regularly sends these care packages to deployed troops. The organization’s focus is to bond with the entire military family, develop friendships and offer moral support.
These care packages (Christmas stockings) are for all branches of the military. Beyond this event, they also support the Wounded Warriors and their families at Camp Pendleton; military spouses; single Marines and Sailors; as well as provide beach parties and Christmas parties at Camp Pendleton.
Time as well as donations are all welcome to help keep this program continuing for as long as there are men and women serving overseas.
