Sears Earns Invite to Elite 11
Jack Sears can add his name to the high-profile list of San Clemente quarterbacks that have been invited to compete in the Elite 11 quarterback competition finals.
Following his performance at the competition’s semifinals at Redondo Union High School last week, Sears was one of 12 signal callers selected to take part in the Elite 11 quarterback finals at The Opening in Oregon July 6-7. Sears is the third Triton in six years to be selected to the event, joining the likes of Travis Wilson and Sam Darnold.
Sears rose to the competition’s No. 2-ranked quarterback after the second day of the semifinals, according to the Elite 11 Twitter account.
Sears, who has yet to commit, will be competing against the top collegiate football recruits in the nation and will be judged and coached by several former and current NFL players while participating in Elite 11.

San Clemente senior distance runner Connor Dunne capped off a strong season with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run at the CIF State Track and Field Championships in Clovis on June 4.

Dunne took third in the state prelims with a time of 1:53.44 but could not better his time in the finals. Dunne’s finals time of 1:53.88 put him three seconds behind eventual winner Isaac Cortes of Great Oak (1:50.75).
