San Clemente Times
A goal in the 20th minute by junior midfielder Alek Cuck ensured a 1-0 San Clemente victory over Servite in the CIF-SS Division 1 Championship game on March 2. The victory capped what has been an historic season for the Tritons, who are now set to host Bell of Los Angeles in the CIF So Cal Regional tournament on March 5 at 4 p.m.
The 1-0 shutout over the Friars was the 21st clean sheet the Tritons have had all season, which is a school record. The win was also San Clemente’s 30th of the season, another boys soccer record.
Cucuk’s goal was just the second given up by Servite in five playoff games, a stat that loomed large before the championship match.
The Tritons have now won the CIF-SS title two times in the past three seasons.
