The 2013 All South Coast League volleyball teams were announced today and several San Clemente volleyball players dot the rosters of the first and second team selections.
Senior setter Jack Yoder was named the league co-MVP alongside Dana Hills’ junior Christian Hessenauer. Yoder continually led the team in sets and helped bolster the Tritons offense. Yoder has committed to USC and will join the Trojans next fall.
Seniors Lucas Yoder (middle blocker), another USC commit, Garrett Costello (middle blocker) and Grant Townsend (libero) were selected to the all-league first team.
Senior outside hitter AJ Hammer was named to the all-league second team.
The Tritons recently finished a season that saw them go 33-4 overall, including a 7-1 record in the South Coast League. San Clemente’s regular season was highlighted by a 23-game win streak that lasted from February 26 to April 25.
The team won two major tournaments, the Best of the West and the OC Championships, en route to an appearance in the CIF-SS semifinals.
San Clemente also advanced to the semifinals of the CIF Southern California Regional Championships.
The Tritons were led by head coach Ken Goldstone.
