California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert and closed the northbound No. 4 lane of Interstate 5 at 6:55 a.m. today when a pickup truck crashed and came to rest on its side on the stretch of freeway between Avenida Vista Hermosa and Camino de Estrella in San Clemente.
According to CHP Officer Gabe Montoya, the first call reporting the crash came in at 6:45 a.m., only minor injuries to the driver were reported and it is unclear at this point whether any other vehicles were involved or what caused the accident.
By 7:30 a.m. most of the vehicle had been moved to the shoulder but portions of the truck bed remained in the No. 4 lane along with what appeared to be splattered paint or some other opaque liquid.
All lanes are expected to be cleared and reopened by about 8 a.m., Montoya said.
