The Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area held its seventh annual Holiday Bikes for Kids event at the club on Dec. 19.

Urban Bicycle Outfitters—also known as Bicycle San Clemente—presented 20 club members with brand-new bicycles and helmets. The generous act was made possible with the help of more than 20 donors. A list of donors is provided in this article at www.sanclementetimes.com.

Veronica Vega, club activities director, introduced Pete van Nuys, owner of Urban Bicycle Outfitters, who gave a helmet safety presentation before the bicycles were distributed. Vega said this annual program is important because it “encourages kids to go out and ride their bikes and get some physical activity.”

“We’re very, very proud of what we can do here during the Christmas holiday season,” said Terry Hughes, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club. “Everybody loves to give and help out, and I encourage you to be thankful and remember them.”

Thanks to the help of dozens of generous donors—including members of San Clemente’s Motley Crew, pictured here—Urban Bicycle Outfitters was able to donate 20 bikes to members of the Boys & Girls Club of the South Coast Area.
